Do-it-yourself false fireplace: interesting workshops and interior decor options

The fireplace in the interior is able to create a unique homeliness, fill the surroundings with warmth and respectability. But what if the funds for the acquisition of such a desired interior item are sorely lacking? A false fireplace will come to the rescue, which is quite possible to build with your own hands. Of course, creating additional heating with it will not work, but you can adequately decorate the interior of any living room. In our article, we will consider various options for how to make an imitation of a fireplace with your own hands, and a photo gallery will demonstrate the best works of home craftsmen.

Materials for creating a false fireplace

To make a fake fireplace with your own hands, you will not need to buy expensive materials - this is another of its significant advantages.

Most often, unnecessary cardboard boxes, plywood, drywall are used for the base. Also in the process you will need working tools: tape measure or centimeter, adhesive tape, electrical tape, pencil or marker, glue (superglue or carpentry), paints, brushes. If you want to make the fireplace imitation more believable, you can purchase decorative materials that mimic brickwork (for example, voluminous wallpapers), or cut separately the “bricks” from the foam, painting them in the right color.

In specialized construction stores, you can purchase polyurethane foam parts that imitate stucco molding, columns, and supplement the fireplace design with them. In any case, before starting work, it is necessary to draw a preliminary sketch of the desired interior item, make the necessary measurements and calculations.

Types of fake fireplace

Counterfeit, as, in fact, natural, are divided into several types. The simplest option for self-production is a wall design, when one of the panels is adjacent to the wall of the room. In this case, you need to determine in advance the room and territory where the fireplace will be installed, to calculate the presence of a free gap along the wall.

The construction of corner fireplaces is somewhat more complicated, as you have to tinker with the design of bends. However, the advantage of such designs is undeniable - the corners quite often remain free in the rooms, and by placing a fireplace in one of them, you can significantly save the space of the room, especially if it has a small area.

If there is a small niche in the layout of the room, its cavity can be turned into a luxurious hearth with logs, and a frame can be made around the perimeter. In this case, we get a built-in fireplace, the assembly of which does not take much time.

Another type of fireplace - island. Already from the name it is clear that it does not adjoin the walls, but is located in the center of the room. In this case, the construction of the raised fireplace will have to take care of its high-quality decoration from all sides. The frame is formed of wood or drywall, which provide good stability. Such a design can create a great accent in the interior and become the central element of the recreation area.

Making the frame of a false fireplace

There are many materials from which you can make the main box of a false fireplace, such as cardboard, plywood, polystyrene, drywall, wood, etc. The choice depends on the availability of raw materials and certain handling skills. The main thing in the construction of the structure is the correct calculations and the reliability of the fastenings of all parts so that the false fireplace lasts as long as possible without losing its original shape.

From a large packing box

The easiest way to assemble a fireplace frame is to use a cardboard box. If you still have a large package from a purchased TV, refrigerator or other large-sized equipment - it will become the best material. Now you need to decide which model to choose - the fake fireplace from the box can be rectangular or angular. Wall rectangular construction can be done in two ways. The first - on one of the large planes of the box to make a transverse incision the height of the future focus, then from it two identical cuts in both directions. Thus, we get a kind of door, each of which needs to be turned inside, forming two bends. The end sections are glued to the back wall of the box.

The second option involves the formation of a false fireplace frame by the assembly method. In the photo we see that first the central part and the side columns are formed separately, and then all the elements are glued together with adhesive tape. The finished frame must be primed and painted. If the result is a fairly stable foundation, you can add a shelf of plywood or a sheet of cardboard folded in several layers on top.

By folding the box, you can accordingly make a compact corner fireplace. If you consider that it is much more stable than a linear one, you can equip the platform from above by placing decorative trinkets, photos, a candelabra on it.

Foam Fireplace

Perhaps one of the simplest options for creating a decorative fireplace is to use polystyrene as the basis. This makes the process much easier, so this workshop is suitable even for beginners.

  • Styrofoam,
  • acrylic primer
  • PVA glue,
  • scissors,
  • brush,
  • acrylic lacquer,
  • masking tape
  • toothpicks
  • golden acrylic paint,
  • braid for decor,
  • knife,
  • putty knife,
  • centimeter,
  • decor.

Four foam blanks are cut from foam. These will be the front and rear walls, as well as the side parts. Since the foam is rather poorly fixed with glue, we additionally use toothpicks.

We connect the side parts with the walls.

Apply a thin layer of acrylic primer to the joints and leave to dry.

On the inside, we mark out where the firebox should be. Carefully cut it with a sharp knife.

If necessary, additionally fix the parts with toothpicks.

We also fix the parts along the upper and lower edges with masking tape.

Apply a primer to the frame and leave to dry. Dip the braid for decor in glue and attach it along the cut for the firebox.

Lightly apply a golden color paint to the braid. In the corners we glue the decor in the form of flowers.

From the polystyrene, we cut another preform. We attach it on top of the fireplace, like a shelf. We cover the sides of the workpiece with gold paint.

Getting to decorating. If desired, glue various snowflakes, braid. You can also make decoupage on the sides of the raised fireplace. We cover the entire surface with acrylic varnish and leave to dry.

In the interior you can put a decorative candlestick or just a few candles. It looks very beautiful and unusual.

Decorative fireplace for the New Year

On the eve of the New Year, it's time to make a beautiful fake fireplace with your own hands. It will look great as a decorative element near the Christmas tree.

Such materials will be needed:

  • foam,
  • knife,
  • jigsaw
  • white paint
  • brush,
  • sandpaper,
  • additional decor
  • brick stencil,
  • pencil or pen
  • ruler.

On the foam sheet, we make the markup and cut out the window for the fireplace.

To remove irregularities, we process the edges with sandpaper.

We take a stencil in the form of a brick and circle it with a pencil or pen, imitating brickwork.

Carefully, using a knife, cut through each brick according to the marking. Remember that recesses should be minimal.

We process the entire surface of the fireplace with sandpaper and thus erase the entire markup.

We paint the decorative fireplace with white paint and leave it to dry for several hours.

We install a fireplace near the wall and proceed to decorating. To do this, you can use spruce twigs, tinsel, beautiful candles and other holiday attributes.

We recommend sticking to one color scheme, then the composition will be more harmonious.

Cardboard raised fireplace

Perhaps one of the easiest to perform will be a cardboard fireplace. It will take quite a bit of time to create it, but the result is worth it.

  • big box
  • white paint
  • PVA glue,
  • skirting board
  • foam decor,
  • pencil,
  • masking tape
  • stationery knife,
  • ruler
  • paper.

We make a drawing for the fireplace on a sheet of paper or use the presented option in the photo.

Transfer the drawing to a cardboard box and cut out the main part with a clerical knife. We bend the edges of the box inward and fix it with masking tape.

We glue the baseboard and polystyrene decor to a raised fireplace.

We glue together two pieces of cardboard. This is necessary in order to make the top of the fireplace. Glue the workpiece to the main part. We paint the fireplace with white paint.

If necessary, apply another coat of paint and leave to dry completely.

We put the fireplace against the wall and install various decorative elements on it. If desired, you can make themed decor. For example, for the New Year or any other holiday.

Drywall Drywall

You can make a beautiful, most natural false fireplace without any problems yourself.

In the process you will need the following:

  • metal profiles
  • electric fireplace (optional),
  • dowels,
  • drywall
  • self-tapping screws
  • chipboard countertop,
  • tile adhesive
  • decorative brick
  • putty,
  • hammer drill
  • screwdriver
  • pliers,
  • Bulgarian.

To begin with, we make a drawing based on the desired size of the fireplace. We transfer part of the marking to the wall.

From the metal profile we assemble the frame for the fireplace, according to our own drawing.

Ready frame sheathed with drywall.

We prime the entire surface of the false fireplace and only after that proceed with the decoration. It is best to attach decorative brick with tile glue.

We attach the countertop to the top of the fireplace.

To create a more natural effect, you can install an electric fireplace inside. But since its cost is quite high, this is not necessary at all. For decor, you can safely use beautiful candles, spruce twigs or flowers. It looks no less attractive.

False fireplace in the interior: original design options

The process of creating a decorative fireplace is very laborious. This is not surprising, because in the process a large number of materials and tools are used. But do not rush to be upset, as a result you will get a beautiful fireplace, which will become a stylish decoration of your apartment.

Types of Artificial Fireplaces

Domestic and foreign designers have long been practicing the use of false fireplaces in the interior of various rooms to decorate them, to give them a status look. The installation of a fireplace in the living room or hall brings classic features to the interior of these rooms. In addition, this decorative element immediately becomes the main one, significantly affecting the overall perception of the entire room.

Nowadays, false fireplaces are actively used in apartments and houses because they are not so whimsical during installation and further use. Even bio-fireplaces and electric fireplaces require a certain attention, which is practically not necessary for an artificial layout.

There are a lot of types of such structures, so they are graded according to different criteria, for example:

  • It is convenient to classify false fireplaces according to their placement: wall, corner, built-in, table.
  • Artificial fireplaces can be divided into types according to the size of the structure and its degree of similarity to the original.
  • An interesting classification is obtained by dividing into views according to the shape of the portal and the design method of this massive structure surrounding the firebox.
  • Materials for the manufacture of an artificial fireplace can be very different, on this basis it can also be classified (cardboard, drywall, plywood, brick).
  • Finally, false fireplaces can be divided by methods of simulating fire or the presence of a real flame.

Accommodation

If we consider the most popular type of classification - by location, then we can distinguish the following options.

Wall fireplace. A false fireplace in the interior of the living room, placed along the main wall, emphasizes the classic design of the room. If you create a high-quality imitation of a real fireplace and fire in it, and then successfully place it along the wall, it will be extremely difficult to distinguish such a structure from a working fireplace, especially if similar building materials are used.

Having built a raised fireplace with shelves on the sides and trimmed it with natural wood or stone, you can get a suitable design for country style. Wood in the decoration of such dummies is used for ethnic interiors. If you build a portal with clear contours and edges, simple shapes and colors, then such an imitation will fit perfectly into modern design, for example, urban styles, minimalism, high-tech. Add metal parts and a tin firebox of a biofireplace with a small not very natural fire and you get an excellent modern building.

Corner fireplace. The main advantage of the corner placement of any fireplace is the saving of space in the room. With this arrangement, the decorative building takes up very little living space, but at the same time it does not affect its appearance and properties.

Using a corner raised fireplace, you should take care of the surrounding area. You can set a table opposite, comfortable armchairs or a sofa to enjoy cozy evenings with your whole family. Adding decorative accessories that are suitable for the style, you will get the proper atmosphere of warmth and comfort. For small living rooms, such placement of a fake fireplace is welcome.

Built-in fireplace. Artificial fireplaces built into the wall are most often found in modern interiors. A special niche is provided in the drywall wall, which is properly finished. It turns out an original accent in the interior and an interesting, unusual solution. An improvised firebox is filled with ordinary firewood or their imitation. If you wish, you can put an electric fireplace, biofireplace or a lcd screen with a kind of fire in a niche, all these devices perfectly imitate the real device.

Island fireplace. A false fireplace in the island version is very rare, most often biofireplaces are used for such purposes. Island placement involves installing the device away from the walls of the room in any convenient place. The construction of an island dummy requires a lot of free space, which is very valuable. Such false fireplaces can be found in the living rooms of private houses, in which the owners, for their own reasons, did not install the real device, but decided that its presence was necessary to create the proper atmosphere.

Imitation

Fake fireplaces can be easily graded according to the level of similarity of the structure to the original, or rather to the generally accepted image of a real fireplace. Currently, the following options can be distinguished:

  1. An artificial fireplace is completely similar in appearance to a real analogue. Massive construction can be made of the same building materials, in the same dimensions, only without a chimney. The difference will only be that in the fake you can not make a real fire, it is not suitable for this. But it’s quite possible to put a biofireplace in the firebox, moreover, the firebox is usually very deep in such devices, 30-40 centimeters.
  2. An approximate imitation of the fireplace is achieved by the construction of a beautiful portal, a decorative frame of an artificial firebox. In this case, the design resembles a real fireplace, but has smaller dimensions. In most cases, the thickness of the structure is reduced, and the height remains unchanged. The decorative portal is finished taking into account the wishes of the owner and the general interior of the room. Models of firewood are laid in the furnace, sometimes candles or garlands are placed to get light from there. Mirrors placed on the walls of the firebox enhance the effect.
  3. The symbolic fireplace remotely resembles its real counterpart. The easiest way to imagine such a center is if you recall the fairy tale about Pinocchio, which had a drawing with fire on the wall. In our case, it can also be a picture or a frame with a picture, it can be a cardboard box or a metal case, finished properly. The most important thing is that such a false fireplace is correctly perceived, so that it is clear that it symbolizes the hearth. For example, it is very popular to create a New Year’s fireplace from cardboard boxes, which is installed during the holidays, and then easily dismantled.

What is a decorative fireplace?

In apartment conditions, there is usually no opportunity to install a full-fledged fireplace: a large load on the floors, nowhere to hold the chimney, nowhere to store fuel. In addition, it is unlikely that anyone will dare to turn modern housing into a repository of bundles of firewood and buckets of coal. An open flame in the room is also dangerous, especially since not only the owners of the room are at risk, but also all residents of the apartment building. In such cases, they use available analogues - bio-, electric fireplaces and gas-powered models. A full-fledged construction will inevitably be associated with additional costs, and the budget option will cope with the main task - decorating the room, but as a result it will be inexpensive. A similar element will fit organically into the interior, since the models differ not only in size and materials, but also in performance styles.

Varieties of decorative fireplaces

There are three main types of decorative fireplaces and one separate view:

  • Biofireplaces. They work on special fuel, give a "live" fire and partially heat the room.
  • Electric fireplaces. On the front panel, a screen is installed, as in a TV that imitates the flames of a real flame. Conventionally, they are classified into simulations that give heat, and functional fireplaces that are used exclusively for heating. The second models are usually not designed to decorate a room, therefore they are not considered as a design art object.
  • Gas fireplaces. They have real flame, they are used for additional heating of the room.
  • Decorative constructions that are made by yourself. Imitation of fire is achieved through the use of candles or bulbs. Most models do not heat the room. In some cases, eco-fireplaces are installed in an impromptu hearth.

By location, decorative fireplaces are classified into three types:

  • Central. Set in the middle of the room,
  • Corner Convenient for decorating small rooms, as they do not take up much space,
  • Wall. They are located near one of the walls. This type is considered the most popular.

Electric fireplaces in the interior of the apartment

Electric fireplaces according to the type of installation are divided into three types:

  • Floor standing. A portable installation is a conventional electric furnace, which is stylized as a fireplace.
  • Outboard. A relatively new model that is hung on the wall. Such options organically fit into modern styles: neoclassic, modern, high-tech, minimalism.
  • Recessed. They consist of a hearth and a “portal” - a box that mimics the original fireplace. Models are embedded in special niches in the wall or even furniture. It is almost impossible to distinguish them from the original at first glance.

Electric fireplaces do not need constant cleaning, they do not give smoke and soot. Compared to their gas "relatives", these models are safe to operate, since they do not have a "live" fire. Models equipped with screens boast an image of a dynamically moving flame.

Biofireplaces in the interior

Bio or eco fireplaces have become a real fashion trend in recent years. They do not imitate flame, but give real fire. The combustion process is not accompanied by the release of odor, smoke and soot, that is, no by-products are released into the air. A similar wonderful effect is achieved through the use of a special type of liquid fuel - denatured ethanol. During combustion, it releases water vapor and carbon dioxide. Both substances are absolutely safe for humans. The hearth is located in a reliably protected "nest" made of stainless steel, and the intensity of the flame is regulated at will. The assortment is rich and presented as models with glass panels and wood elements in the best traditions of eco-style, as well as antique versions. Prices for such equipment have so far “bit” the wallets of customers. The constant purchase of fuel cans will also entail additional costs, although ethanol is a renewable resource. Biofireplaces are universal and able to decorate the decoration of the kitchen, living room or bedroom.

Gas fireplaces: live fire in the urban interior

Gas fireplaces at one time replaced wood burning. These units can not be called cheap, as they themselves, and their installation will be fraught with high costs. It is more convenient to install such models in apartments where central gas heating is supplied. Otherwise, you will have to additionally purchase fuel in cylinders, and they, in turn, must be stored somewhere. The design of the fireplace includes a firebox and a chimney, and there is no ash pan as unnecessary. Gas fireplaces are classified into closed and open types. In the first case, the flame flames up behind the partition of refractory glass. The requirements for a gas model chimney are less stringent than for wood-burning fireplaces: it can be narrower and have fewer “knees”. The device perfectly heats the room. Actual use of them in apartments where conventional batteries can not cope with the main task. There is also another classification according to the number of glass walls:

  • One sided. The traditional model, where you can observe the flame only from the front side,
  • Bilateral. Usually these are corner options equipped with two glass walls,
  • Tripartite. Wall-mounted or central models built into a decorative column that are open to view from three angles.

Gas fireplaces do not require constant fuel tossing, but its imitation usually decorates the hearth to create a greater resemblance to a wood original.

It is necessary to operate gas models with greater caution than electric ones, since the former create a "live" fire. Before turning on the equipment, you must read the instructions for use.

False fireplaces

An exciting process will be the creation of an exclusive fireplace on their own. In modern design, such interior solutions are often found. You can make them from drywall, decorative brick, plywood, polystyrene, polyurethane or a simple cardboard box. Imitation of course has two drawbacks:

  • Visually you will not confuse it with the original, but a quality-made thing will be beautiful in its uniqueness.
  • The false fireplace is not suitable for heating the room. It is set solely for beauty.
Imitations are made quickly enough, if the “box” is made qualitatively, then the decor will last for more than one year. Also false models are classified into three types:
  • Actual. The most authentic imitate the original. Usually performed in a classic style with stucco or artificial stone. A smaller burner or eco-fireplace is installed in the hearth - a rather expensive option.
  • Actual without heating. In fact, they are life-size models. To simulate the flame use candles.
  • Conditional. They can be made of any improvised materials. Even foci painted on the wall belong to this type, as in the fairy tale about Pinocchio.

Do-it-yourself decorative false fireplace

To make an imitation is quite realistic on your own. If you do not have building skills, then resort to the simplest options, work on which is more related to needlework. By the way, such a piece of furniture is able to hide obvious wall defects, they just close them. If there is a niche in the room, then it is used as a natural recess for arranging a false center. Since such models do not require additional installation of the chimney and are small in size, they can be built and installed even in bay windows. The role of the mantelpiece will be performed by the decorated window sill. Consider step-by-step master classes where they work with different materials.

Drywall

You can make a drywall fireplace in a couple of days. Before performing the main work, it is necessary to prepare a project: draw a future product on a piece of paper, having worked out all the little things. Some go further and make cardboard mockups to visually evaluate the appearance and make adjustments if necessary. A place under the future fireplace is freed from furniture and begin to create a frame. They make it from metal or wooden bars. Then plasterboard sheets are cut into modules of the required size. They are attached to the frame and primed so that the cladding is better laid on the surface. The final stage is decorative decoration. Any materials can be used here: from polystyrene to artificial stone. Widely practiced the use of imitation bricks with stucco elements. Such fireplaces will believably portray the classics of the genre: wood originals that were used in the last century.

Out of a cardboard box

When choosing a box, they are guided by its dimensions and cardboard thickness. The denser the material, the longer the design will last. On the wall of the box, which will be the front, a contour of the future focus is applied with a pencil. It can be square, semicircular or combined. The excess part is cut out, but in such a way that gaps remain on the front sidewalls and the "ceiling" part. They must be bent inward and glued to a double-sided tape. Only in this case, the contours of the focus will get a neat appearance. If you plan to create a complex relief on the surface, then other smaller boxes will help in this, from which the necessary elements are cut. After the cardboard frame is ready, it is decorated. Since cardboard is not particularly strong, it is not necessary to clad the structure with heavy finishing materials. The best option is foam. Using a stationery knife, a soldering iron and paint, you can create a high-quality imitation of brickwork. The inner back wall of the focus is painted over in black. The decoration is completed by laying the slides of real little creatures. Putting candles inside the structure is not recommended. Such a fireplace is good for its mobility, if necessary, it is transferred to another place.

When heating the foam with a soldering iron, the material emits toxic substances, work outdoors. The surface can only be coated with water-based paint, and attached with glue without acetone in the composition. Polyfoam melts on contact with aggressive chemistry.

Made of bricks

Although the design cannot be used for its intended purpose, it is monumental. Brick fireplaces perfectly imitate real ones, but have neither a chimney nor an ash pan. Keep in mind that this interior element can already be moved, so you should decide on a place to place it beforehand. To create such a decor, cement mortar and brick itself will be required. The work is carried out by analogy with the construction of walls. For decorating a fireplace, ceramic tiles are usually used, which tightly fastens to the surface. Candles are lit in the hearth or light bulbs are installed, as the material is not afraid of real fire.

Polyurethane

A polyurethane fireplace will last a long time and you won’t be afraid of it with mechanical damages. The material will withstand “blows of fate” in the face of random kicks or heavy objects falling on it. When heated, it does not burn, but melts, so the focus will be of a purely nominal nature. The fireplace is made by the analog of drywall, but without a frame. It is better to fasten the modules with self-tapping screws, rather than glue, because sooner or later the parts can simply “fall off” from the structure. The main advantage of the material can be considered a variety of forms of its surfaces. The finished fireplace can have many bends and neat details that mimic stucco molding. Finish the work by painting the structure in the desired color. Usually choose a shade in harmony with the rest of the interior.

From laminated boards

Perhaps the most difficult to work with this material will be to cut it into modules. For these purposes, hacksaws and saws with small teeth are used, and the plates are held at a certain angle to facilitate the process. Creating a fireplace from this material is similar to making a drywall product. The frame is installed at will, if it still will be, then the design will gain additional strength. During the final design, the boards are painted or pasted with foam that mimics brick or stone.

What to put inside

Inside they put candles, electric lamps or “bare” lamps, miniature eco-fireplaces. The latter option will require additional costs, since the equipment still belongs to the category of expensive. The meaning in such a combination is only in those cases when the bio-fireplace is small and looks too modern for the interior in one of the classic styles. Decorative “box” will correct the situation. Candles can only be placed in the hearths of brick fireplaces. Models made of other materials can cause a fire in direct contact with the fire. The best solution is electric light, but even with it you should be careful. Keep the bulbs away from the walls of the hearth, since when they are turned on for a long time, they tend to heat up and can passively affect temperature-sensitive materials.

Decoration of false fireplaces

When decorating, the following tools are used:

  • Paper and cardboard. Suitable for those who can draw,
  • Wallpaper. Cheap and practical material,
  • The cloth. A non-trivial option that emphasizes the “artificiality" of imitation,
  • Wood veneer. Lightweight material that does not make the structure heavier and gives it a neat look,
  • Styrofoam. It is malleable, therefore, with the help of a soldering iron, the original relief is easily created,
  • Artificial stone or brick. Suitable for false fireplaces with a "claim" to the maximum resemblance to the original.

This list is not final, since any of the materials at hand can become part of the design. All that is required is fantasy.

Conclusion

The living fire in the house will become the attractive center of the room in which the family and guests will gather. Unconsciously, a person is drawn to heat and to the tongues of flame that give it. The sense of comfort by designers is achieved in various ways, but the most “true” is the arrangement of the hearth in the room. He can "grow" the environment from any interior, but will remain an independent element outside his framework.

From cardboard boxes

You can assemble the design from small cardboard boxes. Such a process will take longer, because the main task will be to create a reliable fastening to each other. In such work, it is advisable to use adhesive tape, with which the structure will be fixed. You need to pick up boxes of the same size so that the false fireplace turns out to be perfectly smooth. First you need to securely glue the sash of the boxes so that they do not open. Next, lay out the details on the floor with the letter "P" and proceed to fixing the structure with tape or electrical tape. Just note that you should not try to build a long structure, since its central part will begin to sag over time. When the frame is ready - proceed to decorating.

Foam foam

Polyfoam is a light, affordable and malleable material that is often used by home craftsmen to create various furnishings. In addition, the cost of polystyrene sheets is low, so a large budget is not needed.

To make a fake fireplace, or rather, its box of foam, you need to get a knife and a glue gun. To begin with, we make a sketch on paper with all the relevant calculations and determine the configuration - it will be a corner or linear false fireplace. Next, we transfer the dimensions to the foam plates. Cut out the support base, front screen, hearth, upper part and sides. When all the parts are ready, we proceed to the assembly, gluing the components into a single structure. For reliability, you can additionally use tape or chop the joints with toothpicks. This will be followed by putty construction and decoration.

Drywall fakeboard

Working with drywall will require more time and effort, and you can’t do without financial costs, but their strength and durability are an obvious advantage of products from this material. Assembling a fake fireplace box involves equipping a metal frame to which drywall panels will be attached. For work, you will need more serious tools, such as a grinder, screwdriver, jigsaw, self-tapping screws, dowels, tape measure, etc. To equip the frame, you need to purchase metal profiles with guides.

Before starting work, a drawing is compiled, according to which the design will be assembled. On the wall, it is necessary to mark the contours, indicating the location of the focus. We fix the profiles along the outlined lines, forming the back wall of the fireplace. Next, move forward, folding the firebox, the front part. When the metal frame is fully assembled, we proceed to plating it with gypsum plasterboards cut to size (using self-tapping screws). The final stage is the processing of seams and indentations near the hats with putty.

How to get a fake fireplace

A fireplace fireplace can be designed in different ways. Some people like to create scenery here, filling the space with fir branches, stones, cones or real logs. You can fill the hearth space with large beautiful candles, and place an old candelabra on the fireplace shelf.

If you want the false fireplace to look as realistic as possible, paint the walls of the firebox black, put the logs carefully under which you can hide the garland packed in a bottle. It is better to choose a container with frosted glass - when the garland turns on, the focus will emit a pleasant diffused light. You can not be too lazy, make indentations directly in the logs and pack garland bulbs there. A greater effect of the depth of the furnace will turn out if you paste the mirrors on the back of the fireplace.

Fake fireplace decor

In our article, we examined how to make a box of an artificial fireplace, and now let's talk about how to decorate it. There are many options, of which the simplest is pasting with vinyl wallpaper that mimics a brick or stone. You can purchase more expensive materials, for example, voluminous wallpapers or plastic panels with masonry. If you are ready to work hard, you can make such a decor yourself: you need to glue the structure with light brown paper, and then use a rectangular sponge with red paint to apply a pattern of bricks.

A box of false fire can be treated with plaster and simply painted. An excellent decoration will be elements made of plastic or polyurethane in the form of moldings, columns.

In anticipation of the New Year celebrations, fireplace decoration is given no less attention than the Christmas tree and the rest of the interior. Here, hanging boots for gifts from Santa Claus, all kinds of garlands, arrange elegant candles, New Year's toys. During the winter holidays, households and friends often gather here to drink a cup of tea or a glass of champagne, give each other presents and just admire such a magnificent, warm, solemnly decorated piece of furniture.
